Tripura government has decided to recover all Khash (government) land illegally occupied by the individuals or organizations and the district magistrates has already been instructed to identify such land.
In reply to a question in the state assembly Revenue Minister Narendra Chandra Debbarma said district magistrates has already been initiated the process of identifying such illegally occupied lands and shortly notice will be issued.
He was responding to queries for members Dr Dilip Das, and others. Dr Das said many development projects could not be undertaken in his constituency Barjala in the outskirt of Agartala while some people are occupying large government lands.
Pointing to the previous Left Front government he said during last two decades land mafias in connivance with the leaders of the then ruling party and some government officials has encroached large quantity of lands.
He said the law and order situation also deteriorated due to the activities of the land mafias. Several murder also taken place in last several years due to rivalry between mafia groups but the then government took no action and, instead, the then ruling party utilized their services to suppress the opposition political parties.
The Minister said government is aware of these activities and proper action will be taken after investigation. It may be recalled that the government has already initiated action against political parties and their affiliated organizations who are illegally occupying government lands.
